As an American student studying at Otemon Gakuin University in Japan, I recently had the pleasure of participating in an exciting event called "Kadoma-ja-ne?" This event brought together students from Australia and Japanese middle schoolers for a vibrant day of cultural exchange, and I was thrilled to play a role in showcasing my culture.

　My primary responsibility during this event was to teach the guests about American culture through the lens of American football. As a member of the university's American football club, I was eager to share my passion for the sport. We set up an engaging booth outside, where I introduced the fundamentals of throwing, catching, and blocking. It was a joy to see the students' enthusiasm as they attempted to learn these skills, their laughter and cheers creating a lively atmosphere.

　I was fortunate to have the support of three of my Japanese teammates from the football club—Kenneth, Hayato, and Kyosuke—who played a crucial role in making our booth a success. They helped demonstrate the techniques and provided translations when needed, ensuring that everyone felt included and understood. Their ability to bridge the language gap not only made the learning process smoother but also allowed for a deeper connection between me and the guests.

　After our outdoor activities, we transitioned indoors to watch a video that highlighted the excitement and intricacies of American football. It was very rewarding to witness the students' reactions as they absorbed the thrilling plays and learned about the strategies involved in the game. Explaining the rules and sharing anecdotes from my experiences on the field allowed me to connect with them in a meaningful way.
　

　One of the most enjoyable aspects of the day was conversing in English with the kids. Many of them were eager to practice their language skills, and I found great joy in helping them along the way. Their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning made our interactions even more memorable, and it was heartwarming to see how much they appreciated the chance to engage with a different culture.

　According to the feedback from the guests, my booth was among their favorite experiences of the event. This recognition filled me with pride and reinforced the significance of cultural exchange. Knowing that my efforts made a positive impact on their day was so cool to me, and it reminded me of the importance of sharing our backgrounds and traditions.

　Participating in "Kadoma-ja-ne?" was not only an opportunity to introduce American football but also a chance to learn from my peers. I was fascinated by the stories and perspectives shared by the Australian students and Japanese middle schoolers, which enriched my understanding of their cultures. This exchange of ideas and experiences underscored the beauty of diversity and the connections we can create through shared interests.

　Reflecting on this experience, I feel grateful for the friendships formed and the laughter shared. Events like "Kadoma-ja-ne?" truly highlight the power of cultural exchange and the joy that comes from embracing our differences. I look forward to future opportunities to share my culture and learn from others, as these experiences are what make studying abroad so enriching and fulfilling.

「門真じゃね？」での楽しい文化交流

　日本の追手門学院大学で学ぶアメリカの学生として、最近「門真じゃね？」というワクワクするイベントに参加しました！このイベントは、オーストラリアの学生と日本の中学生が集まり、文化交流を楽しむ素晴らしい日でした。私の文化を紹介できることに、心が躍っていました！

　私の役割は、アメリカンフットボールを通じてアメリカ文化をゲストに教えることでした。追手門学院大学のアメリカンフットボール部の一員として、このスポーツへの情熱を皆と分かち合うのが待ちきれませんでした。屋外に設けたブースでは、投げること、キャッチすること、ブロックすることの基本を楽しく紹介しました。学生たちが笑顔でスキルを学ぼうとする姿は、本当に楽しそうで、私もついつい笑顔になってしまいました！

　サポートしてくれた大学のチームメイトのケネス、ハヤト、キョウスケも大活躍！彼らは共に技術を実演し、必要に応じて翻訳をしてくれました。彼らのおかげで、みんなが参加しやすく、楽しい雰囲気がさらに盛り上がりました。

　屋外の活動の後は、屋内に移動してアメリカンフットボールの魅力を伝えるビデオを観ました。学生たちがスリリングなプレーを見て興奮する姿を見るのは、とても嬉しかったです。ルールを説明しながら、自分のフィールドでの面白いエピソードをシェアすることで、みんなと素敵なつながりを持つことができました。

　何より楽しかったのは、子どもたちと英語で会話を楽しむことでした！多くの子どもたちは言語スキルを練習したがっていて、彼らを助けることに大きな喜びを感じました。彼らの好奇心と学ぶことへの情熱は、私たちの交流をさらに特別なものにしてくれました。

　ゲストからのフィードバックでは、私のブースがイベントでのお気に入りの体験の一つだったとのこと！この言葉を聞いて、心が嬉しさでいっぱいになり、文化交流の大切さを改めて実感しました。私の努力が彼らの一日を少しでも明るくできたことを知り、感激しました。
